Woman killed by leopard in Bhagwah, local protest | | |

Doda, July 11: A middle aged woman died after she was attacked by a leopard in Bhagwah a remote village of Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir here today. Meanwhile bereaved family members and locals also staged protest against state government as Man v/s animal cases have witnessed an increase since a month. Police sources said that the deceased has been identified as Seema Devi who came out of her house for natural call and suddenly was attacked by a beast in Bhagwah belt of Doda last late night. "She shouted for help, however the family members rushed to the spot to rescue her, they said further adding that by the time the beast has mauled her badly." "Hearing noises the leopard disappeared in dense forest cover leaving its prey in pool of blood, said sources and added that the family members immediately shifted the injured to District Hospital (DH) Doda, where she succumbed to her injuries early this morning. After getting autopsy upon the body the police handed over body to the family members for its last rites. Meanwhile the aggrieved family members and locals staged protest against government over increasing leopard attacks in past one month. Amid anti-administration, anti wild life and anti-government slogans the locals demanded measures to save the people from such attacks. |
