World Population Day celebrated in Reasi 7/12/2015 12:24:37 AM Early Times Report REASI, July 11: Awareness workshop cum camp was organized on World Population Day at District Health Society Reasi in the premises of District Hospital Reasi today. According to press release, Chief Medical Officer- Dr Parminder Singh, Deputy Chief Medical Officer-Dr KC Dogra, Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Block Medical Officers of various blocks, Multi Health Workers and ASHAs were present on the occasion. On this occasion, various delivered lectures on the family welfare and population growth and its effects on resource besides expressed their views especially on the decline in the sex ratio and other remedial measures in controlling population growth for the overall development of the country. Speakers advocated the need to adopt family planning methods may it be condom, oral contraceptives, IUCD's, and sterilization (laproligation/NSV) as and when required to stabilize the population growth, reducing the total fertility rate. Dr Singh while speaking on the occasion said that the theme of this year for World Population Day is "Vulnerable Populations in Emergencies".
