CWA, GNRWA jointly organize interactive programme on 'Consumer Rights & Responsibilities' 7/15/2015 12:00:36 AM Early Times Report Jammu, July 14: Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) and Gandhi Nagar Resident Welfare Association (GNRWA) today organized interactive programme on 'Consumer Rights & Responsibilities' at Gandhi Nagar. According to press release, the interactive program was organized through Chander Udhey Sharma, General Secretary GNRWA and a life member of CWA . The CWA was represented by Vikram Gour President , Er Ashok Koul, General Secretay , Er BM Kohli V/P , SN Koul treasurer and Ram Anand among others. On the onset Vikram Gour distributed copies of Salient Features of Consumer Protection Act among members of GNRWA and then gave a detailed account of the working of CWA as also discussed the salient features of the act . He laid emphasis on the consumers' active participation in movement and suggested that consumers should have the first hand knowledge of the Rights and Responsibilities of the consumers as enshrined in the Act and remain vigilant while making purchases and availing the services provided both by private as well as government agencies like Power supply, PHE, Health, Municipal Corp. etc. Immediate complaints should be made to the concerned quarters for violation of any of the consumer rights so that defaulters are brought to book. Participants were advised to understand that MRP was only indicative and consumers can ask for genuine rebates on MRP.
