Srinagar, July 14: In a significant development, the separatists have decided to stay away from Pakistan High Commissioner's Eid Milan to protest keeping Kashmiris out of the joint statement.
Geelani usually known for his Pro-Pakistan stand has accused Pakistan of taking people of Jammu and Kahsmir for granted and refused to attend the Eid-Milan Party being hosted by Pakistan high commissioner Abdul Basit on July 21. "We are not attending Eid Milan being organized by Pakistan High Commissioner at New Delhi, this is in protest against not mentioning Kashmir in Ufa meeting the Prime Minister of Pakistan had with his Indian counterpart, people of Jammu and Kashmir can't be taken for granted" a statement issued by the separatist faction headed by Geelani said here today.
According to details making 'no mention of Kahsmir issue' in recent meet of Prime Ministers of India and Pakistan at Shangai, Geelani has decided to boycott the Eid Milan.
However so far there is no response from other separatist leaders including chairman of his own faction Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairmain Yasin Malik, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party chairmian Shabir Ahmed Shah. Earlier Pakistan high commission in India Abdul Basit invited Separatist leaders from Jammu and Kashmir to its Eid Milan party to be held in New Delhi on July 21.
Pakistan prime minister's advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Sunday said that "Issues cannot be resolved while making it part of the joint statement of an initial contact rather these could be addressed in constructive dialogue, Kashmir issue would be part of our dialogue process and no talks will be held unless the issue of Kashmir is part of the agenda." Aziz stated that joint statement issued clearly recognizes that "India and Pakistan have a collective responsibility to ensure peace and promote development and to do so they are prepared to discuss all outstanding issues which are those outstanding issues and Kashmir of course tops the list of outstanding issues, but there are also other important issues like Siachin, Sir Creek, Interference and Water."
Pertinently dialogue process between India and Pakistan was called off last year after Separatist leaders met Pakistani High Commissioner in Delhi before dialogue process between the two countries could have been started formally as was proposed.
