"Tainted" officer posted in CAPD deptt at Kathua | | | Mohd Irfan Early Times Report Jammu, July 14: An allegedly tainted officer has been given an important posting in CAPD department at Kathua. Official sources said the officer was earlier attached with CAPD directorate. A post in CAPD department was lying vacant since the termination of 63 corrupt employees by the government nearly a month ago. The "tainted" officer's posting against this post has raised tempers in the department. When he was a senior assistant, he and some other CAPD officials were booked in a case (FIR NO 14/2006) which was under investigation from the past nine years, sources informed. "He is also allegedly involved in the Rs 44 cr carriage scam in Rajouri district during 2009-2011. This scam had come to fore when two employees of CAPD were found depositing Rs 2 cr in a hush-hush manner in a bank," sources said. "Instead of appointing some deserving officers at this key post, government has posted tainted official," the sources added. Despite repeated efforts, CAPD minister Choudhary Zulfikar and CAPD commissioner Sourav Bhagat were not available for their comments. |
