Sonia, Rahul to visit JK after Aug 15 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 14 : In order to uplift moral of cadres at the grass root level across the state, J&K Congress leadership has implored upon the high command that frequent visits of the central leadership are imperative. Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi's visit to state looks likely as the latter has given not only appreciated the idea but also given nod to what state leadership has sought in terms of their participation in panchayat level provincial conferences on anvil.Sources said in the meeting held today by the JKPCC chief GA Mir with Vice-President Rahul Gandhi at New Delhi, this emerged as the major outcome that goes in favour of the state leadership which has trying hard to resurrect the morale of the Congress cadres across J&K after crushing defeat in Assembly elections. Even though there were many issues that came up during the course of meeting, getting a nod for participation of high command leaders in a couple of conferences in party's upcoming schedule is something what JKPCC has been aiming at. Sources said Rahul has beckoned this would fructify anytime after August 15 and the state leadership would re schedule its conferences accordingly in terms of timing and the places as venues. This would be the first visit of Rahul and Sonia Gandhi after party lost majority of seats in Jammu to BJP in the Assembly elections. Sources also said JKPCC is contemplating to organise rallies with a difference in the sense that these would have elected representatives on board from the ground or grass root level. Panchayat conferences as these would be named as, the participation of panches, sarpanches and even corporators would be vital in them apart from routine presence of senior leaders and functionaries. Pertinently, despite some stiff resistance by some leaders in Jammu JKPCC chief has been managing to infuse strength through length and breadth of the party , many leaders of which have not yet reconciled to their role as opposition. |
