Early Times Report

Jammu,| July 14: Exposing Saffron Brigade's despicable retreat on the observance of July13 as Gazetted state holiday to commemorate "Kashmir Martyr's Day" which continued in J&K with full State honours in the BJP partnered coalition government, NPP staged a one day sit-in protest demonstration, spearheaded by Chairman JKNPP, Harsh Dev Singh, Yashpal Kundal the State President Young Panthers. According to press release, they are chanting slogans "Desh Drohiyon Ka Samman, Shahidon Ka Apmaan… Nahin Sahenge", "Shahidon Ki Andekhi… Nahin Sahenge", "Shahidon Ko Unka… Insaaf Do" and "BJP-PDP.. Hai Hai" outside the Press club onTuesday. Referring to the classical episode of rebellion on July 13 of 1931 in Kashmir which was followed by a large scale incidents of arson, loot and sectarian carnage when 21 rebels who had incited sedition and public outrage against the Maharaja's (Dogra) rule were killed by the police for restoring law and order, Singh wondered about the treacherous posturing of the BJP in observing the 'Black Day' as 'Martyr's Day' apart from its observance by the State government as a Gazetted state holiday. He said that while the mutineers of July 13 were glorified as Martyrs, the BJP partnered dispensation turned a blind eye to the supreme sacrifices of the valiant soldiers of Jammu. Eulogizing the valiant sacrifices of six Jawans of 6 Dogra regiment hailing from Jammu who laid down their lives for the Motherland in an ambush in Manipur recently lambasted the sinister BJP-PDP combine for refusing the ex-gratia and compensation for the martyrs. Singh disclosed that on the other hand, U.P. government had announced an ex-gratia of Rs.20 lacs each to the next of the kins of its two slain martyrs and Himachal Pradesh government had announced Rs.5 lacs each to the family members of the martyrs killed in the ambush. Former Education Minister also reminded the media that the two IRP Jawans namely Constable Santosh Singh and Constable Azad Chand both hailing from Jammu region were killed by Pak sponsored militants in Handwara while performing their duties in March 2013 but to the dismay the State government failed to provide any ex-gratia and other benefits under SRO 43 to the bereaved families till date which was highly reprehensible. Singh further deplored the State government for its reprobate neglect in payment of ex-gratia to the family of Chamel Singh who was brutally killed in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Pakistan Singh lampoon the Saffron Ministers for ignoring and disparaging the real heroes who made supreme scarifies for the Nation.
Others who were present in the protest demonstration included Anita Thakur General Secretary, Jagdev Singh, Rajesh Pargotra , Gagan Pratap Singh Sarpanch Khajur Singh and others..
