Famous Central Hotel at Pahalgam partly gutted 7/15/2015 12:12:06 AM Pahalgam, July 14: Famous tourist destination in Kashmir-Pahalgam witnessed a major fire on Monday late night in which major portion of Central Hotel got damaged, however no loss of life or injury to anybody has been reported so far. According to eyewitnesses, at around 11:30 pm a massive fire erupted from the third story of Hotel in this famed tourist destination. "On receiving information the Fire and Emergency Service department immediately rushed its men and fire extinguishers to the spot to douse the flames, they said, adding, "inspite of their hectic efforts they however couldn't save the major portion of hotel building."A local Muzaffer Ahmad, who happened to be on the spot, told Early Times "the magnitude of fire could be judged from the time damage as though distance between Hotel and the Office of Fire and Emergency Service Department is few yards only yet the fire left havoc." Meanwhile Fire and Emergency Services Department claimed that their prompt and timely action not only protected the rest of the hotel but also controlled the fire from engulfing to the other nearby hotels and other business establishments. "Since it was in the main market where majority hotels and business establishments are made of wood and could catch the fire easily," an officer from fire department said on anonymity while adding that dousing flames was our utmost priority. Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Pahalgam confirming the incident said two stories of the building got gutted in Monday's inferno. "We are investigating the matter and cause of fire will be ascertained and established after the investigation is over," he added.
