Cong protests over 'poor condition’ of Rajouri-Darhal road 8/8/2015 10:59:18 PM Early Times Report Rajouri, Aug 8: Alleging PWD officials for their casual approach towards pathetic condition of Rajouri -Darhal road, the Congress activists under leadership of senior Congress leader Karamat Malik, held a protest demonstration against the district administration and demanded early repair of works of depleted road resulting into miseries to local populace. Addressing the protestors, Congress leader Karamat Malik said, "For the last more than 5 years widening and repair work was initiated on this road after several incidents of accidents in which about 40 persons were killed. "The matter was taken up with the concerned officials many times and district administration but despite hollow promises nothing has been done till date," said Malik. He and other speakers warned the authorities to hold large scale protest demonstration before the office of Deputy Commissioner if the repair work on this road was not started soon.Meanwhile Abdul Majid Wani , Sectional Engineer (SE) PWD (R&B) when contacted said that government has released money for the repairs/construction/ black topping of all the major roads including Rajouri-Darhal, Rajouri-BGSB University, Rajouri-Kheora roads and tenders have also been called. "Ironically no contractor has come forward for the execution of work on these roads, he said and added, "we will wait for few more days before releasing fresh tenders."
