ReTs threaten to boycott electoral revision process
ADC Kishtwar chairs BLO meeting

Kishtwar, Aug 8: Ahead of special camp day under National Electoral Rolls Purification and Authentication Program (NERPAP) sponsored by election commission of India scheduled to be held in Kishtwar District on August 9, 2015, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik on the initiative of Nodal Officer NERPAP Raiz Ahmed Butt held a detail meeting with Booth Level Officers (BLO's) of 51-Kishtwar and 52-Inderwal constituency of Kishtwar District and briefed them about the program and listened to their grievances.
The nodal officer delivered a detailed lecture on this program which is aimed to enrol people of 18 years and above in the electoral list.
All the BLO's of Kishtwar District have been asked to remain present on 9th of August 2015 at their respective polling stations and guide the people about enrolment process.
He said that on spot corrections, deletions, modification, poor image replacement, voluntary deletions, De-duplications, additions etc could be done during the course of this one day camp.
In his address ADC Kishtwar said that the objective of the program is to felicitate the electors to get their names and other particulars corrected by filling forms 7/8/8-A, beside the voters with multiple registrations in the electoral rolls can come forward to delete their names.
He further said that the electorate can link their ADHAR card number with the EPICS through SMS by using the prescribed formats besides electors' image in the photo electoral Roll whatever is required.
Meanwhile, majority of the BLO's boycotted the meeting as most of them are the ReTs and were not ready to conduct the camp schedule for tomorrow and submitted mass resignation in black and white.
The agitating BLO's (ReTs) were raising slogans against the screening test, added that despite nominal resources ReTs has been engaged as BLO's which has not only put extra burden on them but also causes lot of inconvenience to them. The agitating ReTs also submitted written application to ADC Kishtwar demanding change of ReTs by engaging employees of other department who had less burden like the employees of State Forest Corporation. They said that ReTs are being harassed by engaging them on census duty, election duty and other services while the regular employees having more wages are enjoying burden less duty including Sunday.
After heavy sloganeering, the wonderful efforts of ADC Kishtwar and Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Vinod Kumar Soni, all the BLO's attended the meeting and agreed to conduct the camp being held tomorrow under NERPAP.
CEO Kishtwar in his address informed the ReTs that till date the department has not received any order from the government with regard to conduct of screen test. He said that the issue of pending salaries of ReTs will be addressed shortly, added that the memorandum submitted by ReTs to him has been forwarded to higher authorities and urged upon the BLO's not to boycott the National program NERPAP.
ADC Kishtwar also praises the role of ReTs in successful conduct of last year Parliamentary and Assembly elections and said that education department is the backbone of the District administration and thanks the cooperation of the department. After formal request by ADC Kishtwar and CEO Kishtwar, the agitating ReTs were pacified and agreed to take part in NERPAP camp. They threaten that in case the government did not revoke the order of screen test, they will boycott future camps. On this occasion, flax material highlighting NERPAP importance was also distributed among 274 polling stations, beside all Tehsildar has been directed to monitor the special camps personally.
