Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 18: Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Jammu, Sunit Gupta today rejected the bail application of Jami Balaji, who was arrested by Crime Branch (CB) from Bangalore for allegedly duping a man on the pretext of arranging admissions for his sister. According to the case, FIR was registered by CB under sections 420 and 406 of RPC on the complaint of Shravan Singh, son of Late Swarn Singh of Katra, alleging therein that he along with his family members came Jami's contact for seeking admission in R V College of Engineering, Bangalore, and for investing in some property there. After the accused promised to secure a seat under management quota in the said college for elder sister of the complainant, he was accordingly paid more than Rs 20 lakh through Bank and in cash. However, the accused did not fulfill his promise and duped the complainant of his hard earned money amounting to Rs 84 lakh, which the latter had deposited in the account of the former on different occasions. The CJM, after hearing the two sides, observed that in the present case it reveals that the nature of the accusations against the accused are quite serious in nature as the he is found to be playing with the future of young Turks of society in the name of securing seats in the professional colleges after getting hefty amount from their guardians. The court observed that if the accused was acquitted on bail under the given circumstances, it would be an encouragement to the likeminded persons who often remain in the search of duping the innocent persons of the society. With these observations, the court rejected his bail application. (JNF) |
