"Out of 192 elderly people of this neglected community only 101 have been covered under old age pension scheme leaving 91 persons without the benefits of old age scheme due to indifferent approach of the concerned administration for not taking appropriate steps to cover them under scheme ," sources told Early Times. The Mahasha community is an underprivileged community in Doda district which is mostly economically backward and hardly had their own sources of sustenance and comes under Scheduled Caste category; they informed further, adding that most the people of this community are illiterate.
