ABVP organizes debate on 'smart cities in J&K' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 18: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad of Jammu University today organized a debate on 'smart cities in J&K' here at varsity campus. ABVP convener Lokinder Singh said that the main purpose behind this debate was to create awareness level among people of the state regarding the concept of "Smart cities" as it aims at recasting the urban landscape of that particular city by making it more liveable and inclusive, besides driving the economic growth. Sunil Kumar Geography Research scholar, said that in a country like India, where population is migrating to cities in search of better livelihood and better lifestyles need a special attention of planners to develop such cities in a very sustainable manner and this smart city concept is a fantabulous move to attain this goal of sustainability in our state of J&K. "Looking at the view of equal distribution of Centre's plans for the development of states, our state should get more get more smart cities as our state has been lagging behind", said Tilak Raj Research scholar of political science. They further said that government shall develop these Smart cities in incremental manner with collaboration of foreign Governments like France, USA, Germany etc as they have shown their interest and willingness. "Government should shortlist smart cities as per the norms to be indicated and govt should prepare proposals for further evaluation for extending central support without any delay", he said. The number of Scholars put forward their diversified views and also said that Scholar's of Jammu university with prepare a draft regarding smart city and will present it before the state government so that the voice and perception of Scholar's fraternity in the state be given due place. |
