| CS reviews report on stabilization of hill slopes | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 18: The Tehri Hydro Development Corporation India Ltd (THDCIL) on Friday made a power point presentation before the Chief Secretary B R Sharma regarding stabilization of hill slopes adjoining the holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji.
Chief Executive officer Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, Chief Engineer PWD and other officers were present in the meeting.
The presentation made by the officers of THDCIL was based on their survey of the cave site in the month of July this year. The THDCIL team after investigating the geological and topographical features of the area including the Amravati river generated hazard profile of the area and suggested remedial measures to be taken at the cave site to prevent any major slope failure, debris or rock fall.
Various immediate and long term engineering solutions suggested in the report for slope/stabilization of the adjoining hilly area include installation of Rolled Cable Net, Debris and Rock Fall Barriers, Geo-Grid Wall, High Tensile Wire Mesh, Gabion Wall etc.
Chief Secretary asked THDCIL to prepare a detailed document comprising designing of stability measures, preparation of cost estimates, finalization of technical specifications, tender drawing and documents so that the process can be taken forward for execution of the work at the cave site in a phased manner. |
