Ex militant shot dead, his 3 year old son also injured in an attack in Sopore | | | S.Tahir-Ul Haq Early Times Report SOPORE, Sep 18: Panic gripped the Sopore town of Baramulla district on Friday evening, after unidentified gunmen shot at the ex militant who along with his son was outside his residence at Sagipora in Sopore town. According to sources that, on Friday evening the unidentified gunmen from a point blank range shot at a released militant Bashir Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Nabi Bhat R/O Sagipora Handwara. Lying in a pool of blood, the injured, Bashir and his three year old son were immediately shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment. However the injured militant succumbs on way to hospital. While as the son of the deceased has been shifted to SKIMS for advanced treatment, said sources. Sources further said that, the assailants had lobbed a hand grenade towards them, which didn't explode, adding that the assailants fired a volley of bullets at them causing grave injuries to both, Bashir and his son Burhan. Early times have learnt from sources that the Bashir Ahmad Bhat 36 years old was affiliated with Jamiat-Ul Mujahideen. Soon after the incident, the joint team of Police, CRFP and army cordoned off the whole area to nab the attackers, said official. Meanwhile Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Abdul Qayoom, confirmed early times that, "A civilian Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Sagipora was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on late Friday evening outside his residence. "Some fifteen years back the deceased was first affiliated with Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) and then Jamiat-Ul Mujahideen (JeM). And nowadays he was running his own business, said SSP. |
