DyCM objects to transfer of Police officers | | | Early Times Report jammu, Sept 18: In an attempt to cover up the failures of his party and the Ministers in the coalition Government, the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh allegedly raked up controversy over the issue of transfers and postings of some top Police officers by the Home Department. According to the sources in Government and BJP circles, the Deputy CM's complaint to the CM regarding adjustment of Additional Director Generals of Police was not a spontaneous reaction of a ruling coalition partner but outcome of frustration being experienced over activism of Mufti Mohd Sayeed for delivery of good governance to people of the State. While elaborating, sources explained that Dr Nirmal Singh was particularly irked over the intervention of Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed, who reviewed functioning of the departments under the control of Deputy Chief Minister and other BJP Ministers, recently to ensure their effective functioning. Pertinent to mention that CM Mufti Mohd Sayeed recently took review meetings of Jammu Development Authority, Srinagar Development Authority, Lakes and Water Development Authority, Power Development Department, Forest, Health and other departments under the control of BJP Ministers. As the Chief Minister, during his review meetings, issued necessary instructions for further streamlining the functioning of these departments besides effective implementation of the Government schemes after he came to know about some problems of governance, sources said that the Deputy CM took these instructions otherwise. Under the informal agreement of coalition, Dr Nirmal Singh has to take final call with regard to the issues concerning Jammu and he is virtual CM of this province. Therefore, sources added, Mr Singh complained in this regard to the BJP high command, which signaled him to lodge a protest. Since CM is CEO of the State Government and he has the authority to review functioning of all the departments, the issue of transfers and postings was raked up by the Deputy CM to lodge his protest, sources explained and added that there were, however, no takers of Dr Nirmal Singh's concern even in his own party. |
