SSP Crime HQ, SPs among 5 police officers grabbed State land worth Crores | Police officers turned encroachers: reveals Revenue inquiry | | Sumit Sharma Early Times Report jammu, Sept 18: Five police officers including a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), two Superintendents of Police, one DySP and a constable have allegedly grabbed Government land worth cores of rupees at Channi Himmat, according to a revelation made during the inquiry by the Revenue Department. After the land grabbing cases surfaced, the Revenue Department banned the registration of the Fard-e- Intikhabs at Channi Himmat,Sunjwan and Deeli areas. The order vide No:RDSOJ/R/14/291-96/PA read as "Where as it has been found that large scale "Fard-e-Intikhabs have been issued at Channi Himmat,Sunjwan and Deeli in gross violation of land laws.Where as during settlement Operations it is becoming difficult to ascertain legitimate owhership/possession of the land holders and the settlement pending for the last twenty years and the issuance of blatant Fard-e-Intikhabs hindering the preparation of even proper annual record of rights too.Where as the issuance of the Fard-e-Intikhabs in violation of the rules resulted in certain cases of fraud and forgery and even the patwari concerned have tampered records to facilitate the land transfers. Therefore, pending further inquiry,it is orderd that Tehsildhar Settlement Jammu /Naib Tehsildhar shall ensure that no Fard-e-Intikhab of these villages are issued till completion of the settlement of work as per section proviso 2nd of Land Revenue Act,Svt 1996". These police officers including Sharief Chouhan, SSP Crime Branch HQ, Mohd Amin DySP Ministerial, Abdul Ganie retired SP, Gulzar Choudhary retired SP and Mohd Hanief ,head-constable. SSP Sharief Chouhan has 2 kanal 7 marlas State land in his possession at Channi Himmat. DySP Mohd Amin has 8 marlas State land in his possession, Abdul Ganie retired SP has 1 kanal 14 marlas State land in his possession. Gulzar Chouhdary, retired SP has 2 kanal 2 marlas State land in his possession at Channi Himmat and Mohd Hanief, head constable has 1 kanal land under his illegal possession. As per revenue record, "these five police officers have been found to have State land under their illegal possession. There is neither any valid allotment of the said piece of land in their favour, nor any valid mode of transfer of rights of the land in their favour including registered, sale, gift, relinquishment authenticated by the JDA as per policy governing allotted land". Meanwhile, official sources said that the district administration led by DC Jammu has been holding meetings with subordinates to retrieve the land valuing crores of rupees in possession of the police officers. |
