Kashmiri leaders joined hands to kill holy cows
RSS also a mute spectator

Early Times Report
jammu, Sep 18: All the Kashmiri leaders, separatists included, all the Kashmir-based political parties, all the Kashmir-based religious organizations, all the Kashmir-based opinion-makers and Kashmiri civil society members, all those running and controlling the Kashmiri press, both vernacular and English, and all those who matter in Kashmir have joined hands to ensure the collapse of the 1932 law that banned cow slaughter and beef eating in the State, as also to create a situation in the Valley which could overturn the decision of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court to enforce ban on cow killing and beef eating.
The Kashmiri religious leadership has asked the Kashmiri people to defy the ban and kill cows on Eid-ul-Ajha in large numbers all across Kashmir Valley. The NC and the PDP have also opposed the High Court order. The NC has even approached the Speaker's office to make it sure that the 1932 law was scrapped in the upcoming session of Jammu & Kashmir Legislature. Engineer Rashid, an independent MLA from Langate (Kashmir) has already submitted to the Speaker's office a resolution seeking repeal of the 1932 law and has also started signature campaign against the law. Besides, he has appealed to the PDP and the NC to support his resolution.
As for the Congress, it has declared that it would support all the moves against the ban on beef eating and cow slaughter. So much so, even Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, has virtually joined the cow-killing and beef-eating crusade. "When Assembly starts on October 3, we will see it then whether to bring a bill or support anyone seeking amendments in the law banning slaughter of bovine animals. Congress, NC and other like-minded parties will meet and decide on it," he said on Thursday. He left none in any doubt that the Congress, the NC, the PDP and similar other Kashmiri parties are one as far as their stand on cow killing and beef eating was concerned. The point is that all in Kashmir, besides leaders like Azad, have resolved to outrage the feelings of the Hindu community and their stand has led the Hindu community believe that "Nizam-e-Mustafa has been established in Kashmir" and that "their resolve to violate the law of the land was a great step forward in this direction".
Mercifully, the RSS, the so-called pro-Hindutva organization, and its political organ, the BJP, have abandoned the outraged Hindu community. They have, it appears, decided not to make an issue out of the rabidly anti-Hindu and anti-cow stand taken by the fanatic Kashmiri leadership. In fact, the concerned members of the Hindu community have held the RSS and the BJP squarely responsible for what has been happening in the Valley for more than six months now.
"The RSS and the BJP sealed the fate of the Hindu community by joining the anti-Jammu, anti-Hindu, anti-Ladakh and anti-national system for the sake of power," they have said, adding that the "RSS has turned out to be the greatest enemy of the Hindu community". "We had never expected that the RSS would behave like it has been behaving, particularly since December 2014, when the BJP won 25 seats from Jammu province. We had never expected that the RSS would also indulge in power games in Jammu & Kashmir overlooking the national interests and the interests of the non-Muslim minorities in the State. The RSS has, undoubtedly, let down the Hindu community in its desperate bid to save the coalition Government," they have also said, and added that the stoic silence the RSS has maintained should establish that it never believed in what it preached all through.
What has been happening in Kashmir and the stoic silence of the RSS and hobnobbing between the BJP and the PDP have further vindicated those demanding separation of Jammu region from the radicalized Kashmir saying the people of the region need a dispensation of their own so that they are in a position to preserve their identity and protect their religion and religious beliefs. Will the RSS and the BJP take cognizance of the changing attitude of the Hindu community towards them and ensure that the 1932 law was enforced in letter and spirit at whatever cost? It is difficult to say that the RSS and the BJP would do anything in this regard.
