Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 18: The order issued by Union Ministry of Communication, IT and Posts to Chief Post Master General (CPMG) of Jammu and Kashmir regarding engagement of 140 selected candidates for Postal Assistant and Sorting Assistant is falling on deaf ears as after lapse of 10 days, no action has been taken.
Sources informed Early Times that on September 9th, 2015, the Union Ministry of Posts had directed the competitive authorities of 10 states including Jammu and Kashmir to revoke the abeyance orders, in 10 circles including Jammu and Kashmir circle. "The J&K circle is still waiting to start the process of appointment to 140 candidates who were selected as per the result declared in March 2015", sources said.
The department of Posts had selected 140 candidates from Jammu and Kashmir as postal Assistants, Sorting Assistants by conducting written exam in 2014 and declared result in March this year.
"But in month of April 2015, the Department of Posts kept in abeyance the orders, after some complaints about alleged bunglings in the recruitment process and had ordered departmental vigilance inquiry into it", sources said.
After the lapse of nearly six months, nothing was found into the allegations and Secretary of Department of Posts has revoked abeyance order and directed all Chief Posts Master Generals including J&K to allow all selected candidates to join their duty (order attached) but CMPG J&K was reportedly not serious and has been showing reluctance to complete the process.
Sources further said that the Chief Post Master of Jammu and Kashmir was likely to get superannuation shortly, so has been adopting the delaying tactics. "There is huge shortage of manpower in all the branches of Post offices but it is beyond imagination, as why CPMG is deliberating delaying the process and forcing the other employees to work with limited manpower", sources said.
Chief Post Master General of Jammu and Kashmir, Chander Parkash said that they have received the order of the Union Ministry and a constitution of committee has already been done by the department. "The committee will scrutinize the records of selected candidates and within one month, the entire process will be completed", he assured.
