24th Academic Council of SMVDU held 9/18/2015 9:37:23 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 18: The Academic Council of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University deliberated over various progressive administrative and academic measures to enrich the administrative and academic structure of University and recommended them for approval in the Executive Council in the twenty fourth meeting held in the University campus on September 18. Chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Sudhir K. Jain, the Council reviewed the action taken on the decisions taken in the 22nd and 23rd meeting of Academic Council which were ratified in the Executive Council. Significant among them were adoption of NEW IPR Policy for checking of plagiarism of Ph D, M Tech and B Tech. Projects/Thesis; starting of new School of Economics; running of new courses like Five years Integrated M Sc (Economics) program & MCA; establishment of Academic Staff College; establishment of Nano-technology Cell; fresh MoU with IIM, Jammu; modification in R&D projects and revision of curriculum of the various UG & PG programs. The action taken was followed by deliberations & recommendations on adoption of UGC Choice Based Credit System; review of Students Merit-cum-Means Scholarships; starting M.Tech.(Renewable Energy) full-time programme; introduction of Inter-University credit transfer. Further, the Council deliberated over constitution of School Research Committees in all Academic Schools in view of the fact that each school in the University has grown in terms of faculty & research, therefore, instead of existing Faculty Research Committees (FRC), School Research Committees will enhance research output administratively. Prominent academicians from different areas of discipline attended the meeting as External members whereas all Deans, Directors, Librarian attended the meeting as Ex-officio members & Ajay Khajuria, the Registrar of the University as Secretary of Council.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
