Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Anjali Sharma said that Hindi functions are occasions of propagation as well as celebration of Hindi. On this day, while we celebrate Hindi by extolling its virtues and beauties, we also, direct and indirectly, propagate the language. It is because of this approach that many people in various countries abroad speak in Hindi, and also take a special pride in their ability to do so. She also pointed out that Hindi is the 2nd most spoken language in the world, and it is also the most used language in the world. She also said that no other country in the world expresses her love for her language as fondly as we do. In his address, Prof Lokesh Verma deplored the preference for English displayed by the masses. He said that it is unfortunate that the people are under the impression that we shall be left far behind if we don't use the crutches of English. But the truth is that today we are using Hindi more and more. |
