Two Punjab based smugglers held with 31 kg Poppy Straw | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Sept 18: Two Punjab based narcotics smugglers were arrested today alongwith contraband poppy straw (Bhukki) weighing upto 31 kgs during a special naka (check point) checking on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in city outskirts of this winter capital of the state. Police have identified the accused namely as Sonu Singh s/o Prakash Singh r/o Amritsar and his co passenger Sunny s/o Balbir Chand r/o 36, Salimpur, Jallandhar. Police spokesperson said, "Acting a reliable tip off, police team from Police Station Jhajjar Kotli this morning intercepted a passenger taxi (Toyota Quallis) bearing regd no: DL8CJ-1477 on its way towards Jammu near Saketar under P/S Jhajjar Kotli on the national highway." "On search of the vehicle, police party recovered 31 Kg Poppy Straw (Bhukki) which the duo was carrying illegally from Srinagar to Punjab, police said adding, "duo was arrested on the spot and consignment of contraband poppy straw was seized. Police said that a case FIR No. 107/2015 u/s 8/15/29 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation of the case is going on.
