JK cop likely to head State NIA | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 18: An IPS officer of JK Cadre is likely to be the first state chief of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) which intends to set up a permanent base here. The officer belongs to an influential family having close proximity with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The closeness to the MHA has helped the officer grab price postings in the past as well. The desired posting, sources believe, awaits a nod from the MHA which most probably will come shortly. NIA was formed after 2008 Mumbai attacks to effectively investigate the terrorism related cases. The officer has already served two deputation terms with the NIA and as such is deemed a good choice for the top NIA post in the state. |
