University in wet desert to bring three regions of JK closer? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sep 18: Voices though feeble have sought an International Buddhist University in Leh. Ladakh, a local newspaper said has tremendous tourism. It is also an ideal place for producing electricity through solar energy. Notwithstanding this, the region is facing neglect from the very beginning. Jammu and Kashmir regions are presently fighting for the AIIMS and IITs. Both Kashmir and Jammu have adequate health and educational infrastructure. Students from Leh and Kargil areas seek admission in Kashmir and Jammu universities. Ladakh was accorded status of a region recently. It no longer is a part of Kashmir division. The coalition government has vowed equitable development of all the regions of the state. There is no denying the fact that the population of Ladakh region is less than Batmaloo and Rainawari areas of Srinagar put together but being a region, it is entitled to development and development comes with education. The 2011 census has proved that the students from the wet desert have excelled in education. In fact they have left the students of Srinagar far behind. The Leh and Kargil districts are now more literate than Srinagar. A university in Leh can be an ideal place for the students of Jammu and Kashmir regions. It will not only add to the scholarship of the state but bring the three regions closer. |
