NCP greets people of state on Eid-ul-Zuha | | | JAMMU, Sept 23: Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh, state President Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has greeted the Muslim community of the state on the eve of Eid-ul-Zuha. In a statement issued here today, the NCP's state unit president Thakur Randhir Singh said that Eid is a festival that is celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety in J&K and other parts of the country and world. Singh said many Muslims wear new clothes and attend an open-air prayer meeting during Eid-ul-Zuha. They may sacrifice a sheep or goat and share the meat with their family members, neighbours and the poor. Singh said Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and Buddhists greet the Muslim friends on this great occasion. Singh has appealed to all sections of the society to maintain this old tradition of the state and join Muslim friends in celebrations. |
