Wanted Militant Burhaan in news again | | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 23: Wanted local Militants of Kashmir are in News again ahead of Eid-ul-Adha festival for extending greetings to the people through banners. In one of the banners,Burhan is with his Brother Khalid Hussain who according to sources was also a militant and shot dead by Security Forces in an encounter in South Kashmir. Burhaan who carries a reward of one million poses in army fatigues. Recently Burhaan distributed threat posters in parts of Pulwama warning people to observe complete shut down every time separatists call for strikes. As rumours about agitation by separatists over beef ban after Eid festival are swinging across Kashmir these days, greeting banners of the militants only add worries for common masses. People in Kashmir feel that militants uploading images and videos on social networking sites like Facebook and Whatsapp etc are worrisome as children get attracted towards militancy. Police have already approached the court here to block some Face book pages which allow militants to propagate militancy unabatedly in Kashmir through the internet. There are dozens of pages on Facebook bearing images and Jihadi messages of wanted militant Burhaan Wani and of other militants as well. However authorities are yet to book the handlers of all such pages. Sources said that around 60 % surge in militancy was reported in south Kashmir in two years and wanted Burhaan Wani has recruited at least 30 youth from four districts of South Kashmir though some of them were killed but many are still active. Sources added that most of the youth who joined militancy in past two years were recruited in Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit followed by Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and other factions of militants. Hizbul Mujahideen is operated from Pakistan by Salah-ud-din who according to sources also heads 11 other factions of militants operating in Jammu and Kashmir under the banner of united Jihad Council (UJC). Videos, threat Posters and Banners of Militants continues to surface in Kashmir at many places including Jamia Masjid area of Srinagar,Sopore of North Kashmir and other villages of Pulwama District. Militants in recent past managed to upload videos on social networking sites like Facebook and whatsapp, probably to motivate Youth to join militancy. Very recently wanted Militants in one such video while asking youth to join militant ranks were seen asking them to"fight" against India and act as "saviours of honour and dignity of the women of Kashmir." |
