BJP seethes with anger, Central leaders say coalition will complete full term | Soft warning to PDP: BJP won't acknowledge 'disengagement' decision | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 23: As the BJP camp sulks and seethes with anger over recent developments that unfolded this time with disengagement of Additional Advocate General and Deputy Advocate General, the Central leadership of the party arrived here to raise the spirits of the Ministers and Legislators with soothing assurances amid a marathon session of meetings held today. The assuaging session concluded with a soft warning that BJP doesn't acknowledge the decision on sacking of two law officers as it has been taken unilaterally by PDP, albeit with an underlined and loud message: PDP -BJP coalition would complete its full term in the State. Sources said amid high confusion and antagonistic approach of the two alliance partners on beef ban controversy, the two senior leaders from BJP's Central leadership Avinash Rai Khanna and Ram Madhav arrived on an unscheduled visit here today to take note of the party's serious concerns and reservations over a host of issues, the fresh one being sacking of the two legal officers who were appointed to these posts on BJP's share of government berths. All the BJP ministers barring one from Leh had already reached Jammu for the meeting that was held in the state Guest House today. Sources said the two national general secretaries of BJP held meetings in a phased manner to get an impression from all quarters on recent developments which have again caused fissures between the two alliance partners. First they held meeting with BJP's core group which comprises senior leaders and functionaries, sources said, adding that all the leaders put forth their views as to what implications party would face politically in the backdrop of these developments. The two leaders from Central leadership who have a pretty good understanding and nerve of the politics in state vis-à-vis party's alliance with PDP in the government later held meeting with all the party ministers including Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh. The ministers too put forth their view point on various issues while they also sought review of coalition government's functioning, sources said. Almost in unequivocal manner, they took exception to the fact that PDP has been taking all the crucial decisions unilaterally without consulting even one BJP minister. This is not only causing humiliation and embarrassment to them, but they are facing public wrath back home in not being able to assert their position, sources said as BJP camp having conveyed to the visiting Central leaders. The latter also held meeting with MLAs and MLCs separately to listen to their viewpoint on present political scenario and BJP's position in the political canvass of the State. While the two leaders, particularly Avinash Rai Khanna, are said to have assuaged the anger of the State leaders over PDP's unilateral approach towards functioning of the Government by stating that this concern would be taken up soon at the 'appropriate forum' with PDP, the meetings concluded with the rhetorical expression that alliance government at any cost would complete its full term in the State. |
