Fanatic Geelani comes to PDP rescue | Mischievous gesture | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 23: Syed Ali Shah Geelani's Wednesday statement that people (in this case Muslims) should not perform any act that could hurt the religious sentiments of other communities (in this case Hindus) of Jammu and Kashmir is a well-thought out ploy to defuse the potentially dangerous situation in the state where both the communities are face to face with each other. "Allah has declared meat of bovine animals' halal for us. Neither can anyone declare it a forbidden entity nor can (one) stop us from consuming it. At a time when on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, we uphold the sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S), we must not indulge in any such activity that could hurt the religious sentiments of any community," Geelani today said in a statement. "If any entity is halal in Hindu religion, we cannot declare it a forbidden one. In a similar manner, rendering sacrifices of animals is a religious obligation for the Muslims. Our fight is between the oppressor and the oppressed. There are some elements which are giving it the communal color so that the attention from the real cause is diverted. We must keep a close vigil over such nefarious plans and should not indulge in any act that could give the ongoing resistance movement a communal color," Geelani also said. His statement must have surprised many, although there was nothing in it that was at all surprising. He made the statement not because of any change of heart but because he was convinced that if the ongoing controversy over the ban on cow slaughter and beef eating was not brought to an end at the earliest, it could result in the collapse of the present PDP-BJP coalition government. He would never want such a development to take place as the present dispensation suits all those who do not consider Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India or those who want to make optimum use of the soft official policy to further their sinister anti-India agenda. He knows it well that the PDP-BJP agenda has appreciated the view of Pakistan and all those in Kashmir who have been indulging in anti-India activities in Kashmir since decades. Geelani is a known fanatic and a recognized Pakistani agent, who is responsible for bloodshed and disturbances in the Valley. He was one of those fanatics who booted out of Kashmir the minority community of Kashmiri Hindus and he was also the one of those Kashmiri separatists who repeatedly said that if the hounded Kashmiri Hindus wanted to return to their original habitat, they would be welcomed only if they joined the anti-India movement and follow the diktats of those who wanted Muslim Kashmir to merge with Muslim Pakistan. How could he deviate from the path he has all along followed? Those who believe that he made this gesture out of his conviction are living in a fool's paradise. His was a definite motive and taking that motive into consideration he came out with a statement that was aimed at achieving a bigger purpose. The fact of the matter is that he wants the present dispensation to continue. There are also reasons to believe that certain elements in the dispensation must have approached Geelani and requested him to do something that averts the possibility of the coalition government falling anytime on the Eid day or immediately thereafter. His was a mischievous gesture and there should be no doubt it. To take his statement on the face value would be only to commit a great blunder. Geelani he was, Geelani he is and Geelani he shall ever remain because he is an ardent champion of Pakistan and Nizam-e-Mustafa.
