Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 14: Despite repeated claims by fire brand leader of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and Minister for Health and Medical Education that State government was committed to provide basic medicines and intravenous fluid (glucose) to all health institutions but the Community Health Centre (CHC) has been running without life saving fluid since couple of days. Source informed Early Times that owing to acute shortage of intravenous fluid (glucose) at RS Pura's CHC Hospital has forced the patients to purchase the glucose from open market at high rates, especially during emergency. He further said that however, few month back, the Jammu and Kashmir High Court had directed the Health department of Jammu and Kashmir to display a list of medicines within the premises of hospital which are available free of cost. "But in spite of the list, the officials of the hospital has been forced the patients to buy intravenous fluid from the open market, which is making mockery of tall claims made by Health Minister in publically", he said. An attendant, Parveen Kumar of border village, Sai said that two days back, his mother was admitted in hospital, but surprising, when the Para medical staff have deputed at causality ward have asked me to arrange intravenous fluid from open market, because the hospital is facing acute shortage of the same. It is pertinent to mention here that due to non-availability of fluid in the hospital, the poor patients of border areas are hits hard. It is one of the primer hospital in border area which serves the nearly more than 100 villages but owing to non-availability of basic medicines has exposing the intention of coalition government toward rural as well as border areas. A senior official of the hospital said they have been managing the supply from the reserve and borrowings from outside, but the reserve has already been consumed and demands are very high. Despite having all information of acute shortage, nothing has been done till now by higher authorities of the health department.
