Rajouri, Oct 14: Acting tough against habitual absentee teachers, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri has suspended three teachers of Khud Patheri Mobile Primary School as the school was closed when he paid a surprise visit there last week.
Following repeated complaints against the school staff, the CEO Chowdhary Altaf Hussain along with Nagesh Kumar, HoD at DIET, and Tanveer Ahmed Mir, principal of Saj higher secondary, paid a surprise visit to Mobile Primary School on October 7. The school, temporarily situated at Khud Pathri pastures in Pir Panajal mountain range, has been set up for the children of nomads.
Two teachers namely Rubina Shaheen and Abdul Hamid were attached to the CEO's office while the third was directed to report at Planger high school.
During the visit, the CEO Chowdhary Altaf Hussain learnt that the school was closed since July and no teacher has been attending the school.
The CEO directed the Zonal Education Officer to explain his position on this matter and also directed him to submit all the relevant records pertaining to release of teachers' salaries, details of mid-day meal, disbursement of scholarships, use of school funds, etc to verify the complaints.
The school is actually based at village Ghreen Behrote in Thanamandi tehsil and is shifted along with the nomads from this region to Pir Panjal mountains during summer months.
Sources said that after joining duties for few days in the month of July all the teachers remained unauthorizedly absent from their duties and the school was closed.
Sources said though the school remained closed during summer months, the ZEO concerned (Thanamandi) released salaries in favor of the teachers.
The teachers have reportedly submitted bills related to mid-day meals when actually no meals were served to the students.
When contacted, ZEO Thanamndi said, "The matter has been brought into my notice after the CEO paid a surprise visit to the school and demanded all the records related to the school. I am collecting all the records and will soon submit them in the office of CEO."
