Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: The head of the State Vigilance Organization and various other top posts are lying vacant for months which indicates that either BJP-PDP coalition Government is least bothered on improving policing in the State or BJP has failed to affect reshuffle in Police Department in Jammu.
The Vigilance Organization, an anti graft body, became headless on June 30 after its Director Shaikh Owais Ahmad attained superannuation. The vacant post for a longer time could adversely affect the organization. The Director is crucial in decision-making process in VO vis-a-vis administrative affairs and investigation of the corruption cases. " In his absence, the Organization is bound to suffer," an official, wishing anonymity, said.
The post of DIG Vigilance is also lying vacant after the retirement of the J.L Sharma. Sharma attained superannuation on 30.6.2015. With the retirement of the two senior cops and over staying of IGP Vigilance Alok Kumar, the SVO is at present defunct.
Besides, several posts of DIGs are also lying vacant. These include DIG Traffic, DIG Armed, and DIG IRP. The coveted post of DIG Traffic was lying vacant after the transfer and posting of DIG Ashkoor Ahmed Wani. At present the affairs of the DIG Traffic is looking after by the DIG Jammu-Kathua-Samba range Ashkoor Ahmed Wani.
The post of DIG Armed is lying vacant after the retirement of the Vijay Singh Sambyal. Sambyal attained superannuation on 31 January. The post of DIG Indian Reserve Police (IRP) is also vacant after the retirement of K.L Bhagat.
Further, the post of SP South is vacant for nearly one year.
