Early Times Report
Kathua, Oct 14: Ministers, bureaucrats, police and traffic officials, name anyone, and you will see all of them brazenly violating the Supreme Court directive about using High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles. In a series of directives, the apex court had asked all states including J&K to abide by its directions passed vide February 7, 2012 order. The Supreme Court had made clear that installation of HSRP was a statutory command which is not only in the interest of security of the state like sensitive J&K but a mandatory one. The court had directed that it be implemented in the entire country by April 30, 2012 in relation to new vehicles and June 15, 2012 in case of old vehicles. Ironically, security forces and traffic police openly violate the apex court's direction, reflecting the non-serious attitude of the people at the helm. When contacted, RTO Kathua, Amarjit Singh, said the directions have been passed to all government departments and private commuters, asking them to use HSRP on their vehicles. He assured that the HSRP would be installed on the vehicles by Feb 2016. |
