Navratra festival opens at Shree Lakshmi Narayan temple

Jammu, Oct 14: Navratra festival opened at shree Lakshmi Narayan temple, Gandhi Nagar Jammu with a colorful and enjoyable 'Fancy Dress Show' and "Rangoli Competition" of tiny tots. Launched for the first time by Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple Management Trust as part of its initiatives to create and strengthen religious environment during festivals, the Festival attracted a large number of people who enjoyed the mix of religious discourses and entertainment. The Director Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu Anjali Sharma was the special guest. The Festival is aptly conceptualized and designed by Oma Katal who is the moving spirit of the show. About a hundred children took part in the inaugural show. The Festival opened with traditional impressive Ganeshvandana presented by a group of 27 students of Dogra Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, Jammu. The Tiny tots stole the opening day show and dressed in colorful attires in the "Swaroop"of God and goddesses, the children in the age group of three to ten years of age descended on the stage one after another and introduced themselves and explained in their "Totalee" language, not only the details the "Swaroop" of gods and goddesses they were presenting but also recited "Shaloks" by some and creditably answered the Quiz questions to which they were subjected. This one half hour glittering show awestruck the huge gathering came to witness the show. In all, over 22 tiny tots participated in the show. Director Doordarshan complimented the Temple Trust for starting a laudable religious-cum-cultural programme to infuse awakening and strengthen religious traditions and values that is the core of Hindu religion and so are in other faiths. She lauded the performances of all participants and said that this could be rated very high in their age group. She also distributed prizes among the winners and the participants.
