Spends Rs 75 Crore to plug 3946 flood-breaches on Jhelum

Srinagar, Oct 14:J&K government has spent more than Rs 75 crore in plugging the breaches on river Jhleum and its tributaries that were reported during the devastating September 2014 floods. Most of them were restored temporarily and a few permanently, informed sources in the Irrigation and Flood Control Ministry said.
Total number of spots on river banks which were restored is 3320 and it has cost the state Rs 34.50 crore by the end of March 2015. These funds were utilized from the SDRF corpus.
By the same time, however, 625 breaches were restored permanently. By debit to the Prime Minister's Package for immediate restoration of public infrastructure, it cost the state Rs 41.65 crore.
The work, however, is still in progress at a few places.
