Srinagar, Oct 14: After inaugurating the renovated Tagore Hall complex here Wednesday, Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed called for integrating rich diversity and heritage treasure into the state's tourism industry. Chief Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir is known for having composite culture and inclusive features in its cultural ethos and added that there is a need for integrating the rich diversity and heritage treasure of the state into its tourism industry. He also announced setting up of a School of Sufiyana and folk music here that he said would help in cultural revival and would also offering certificate courses for aspiring students in various art related courses. "Please don't keep this auditorium idle now, make it a vibrant centre of never-ending cultural activities,"Mufti said Apart from partly lines, Mufti Muhammad Sayeed while hailing the contribution of noted litterateurs from Jammu and Kashmir also praised staunch National conference (NC) supporter and Muhammad Yousuf Taing and other personalities like Jnanpith Award winner, Rehman Rahi, Farooq Nazki and asked them to become torchbearers for younger generation to infuse a new life in the state's cultural landscape. Chief Minister while describing Jammu and Kashmir as an all-season tourist destination said that there is always an opportunity to utilize the state-of-the-art facility for organizing cultural events, even during winters as well which he said would expose the unique multicultural features before the domestic and international tourists. Chief Minister, who is also the President of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages, said that his visit should not be merely a symbolic exercise and urged the audience that culture lovers must keep the enthusiasm alive and kicking for people in general. He advised that an itinerary of cultural activities should be conceptualized so that the upgraded facilities at Tagore Hall here and Abhinav Theatre in Jammu divisions could be optimally utilized in order to enable the two centres to become self-sustaining institutions. Pertinently built in 1961, in memory of Rabindranath Tagore, the great poet philosopher and Nobel Laureate, Tagore Hall in Kashmir among artist fraternity is considered a seat of cultural awakening and inviting performing artists from within and outside the state to perform here. As per official accounts, Tagore Hall has been renovated by JKPCC in record time, after it was devastated in last year's floods. Equipped with any modern-day auditorium, the 426-seated Tagore Hall is laced with HVAC fire-fighting, heating and cooling systems and fully computerized stage management system as well. Minister of Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, Muhammad Altaf Bukhari, Minister for Finance & Culture, Dr. Haseeb Drabu, MLC, Khursheed Alam and Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Dr Aziz Hajini, were also present on the occasion, besides people belonging to promotion of art and culture in Kashmir were also present. |
