CD organizes Cardiac Awareness Camp | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 1 : In a bid to reach out to the army jawans, the Department of Cardiology of Government Medical College and Super-Speciality Hospital Jammu today organized a day long Cardiac Awareness Camp by a professional team for the Jawans and their families of Paloura 127BN BSF which comprised of doctors, pharmedics and volunteers headed by Dr. Sushil K Sharma, Head of the Department of Cardiology. The Army Jawans and their families were seen waiting eagerly to get their cardiac health checked. From getting their BP checked to Cholesterol tested, more than 150 Jawans and their families were screened by the team of doctors for prevalence of cardiac diseases. Those who were found having high Blood Pressure, diabetes, problems with Heart Rate and lipid abnormalities and some other symptoms of heart disease, the doctors prescribed medicines and relevant diagnostics tests. Medicines were distributed free of cost among those found having some symptoms of heart disease while others were advised to go for drastic lifestyle changes. During interaction with Jawans and their Families, HOD Cardiology Dr. Sushil.K.Sharma advised them to make moderation, a norm for the rest of life. He said lifestyle modification is key to living heart healthy life. Keep yourself stress free since stress increases your risk of suffering from cardiac disease more than anything else. Do not let unnecessary mental stress shorten your span of life were the words which Dr. Sushil kept repeating while screening the patients. |
