Jammu, Nov 1: Giving serious dent to Chief Minister's efforts to root-out corruption from the system, a dossier against PDD meter reader in disproportionate cases went missing from the office of Deputy Commissioner.
Acting upon the missing of the dossier, the Deputy Commissioner Jammu has constituted committee to enquire into the misplacement of the documents.
According to documents, Rashu Kanna sought certain information about on Surinder Singh, Meter Reader of PDD. "He sought the status of action taken report of the aforesaid letter written by the Regional Director, Survey and Land Records (Ex-Officio Settlement Officer), Jammu to Deputy Commissioner, Jammu" document revealed.
The Regional Director, Survey and Land Records (Ex-Officio Settlement Officer), Jammu vide office No. RDSLR/J/Estt/J/Estt/108-110 dated: 12.02.2014 informed the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu that the Meter Reader of PDD, as per inputs received by this office is heading a gang of land encroachers.
"Surinder Singh in connivance with the land mafia has sold Ghairmumkin khad/Jard. He had earned property reportedly disproportionate to his income. It is learnt that he owns benami property like JCB/Dozers/Dumpers which he utilizes for encroachments on Government land in Thather/Karan Vihar/Raipur area", the documents read.
"Such Government Employee needs to be considered for deadwood, Regional Director, Survey and Land Records Jammu requested the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu that the matter will be taken up with the concerned for processing the case inter-alia verification through CID and filing of FIR", documents read.
The appellant filed first appeal in the office of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu which was transferred to the Regional Director, Survey and Land Records on May 23, 2015. The Regional Director, Survey and Land Records Jammu vide office No. RDSLR/J/Estt/J/2015/607 dated: 18.05.2015 informed the PIO/Assistant Commissioner (Nazool), Jammu that the office endorsements No. RDSLR/J/Estt/108-110 dated: 12.02.2014 addressed to Deputy Commissioner, Jammu regarding preparation of Dossier against the Meter Reader stands already submitted and with regard to item 1 to 3 of the application submitted by Rashu Kanna, the information can be procured from the office of Deputy Commissioner, Jammu who had in fact to initiate further action in the matter.
The Commission after receiving the second appeal listed the matter for hearing on October 9, 2015. FAA/ADDC apprised the Commission that an Inquiry Committee has been constituted by Deputy Commissioner, Jammu which is being headed by a senior revenue officer to inquire into the misplacement of letter bearing No. RDSLR/J/Estt/108-110 dated: 12.02.2014 written by
Regional Director, Survey and Land Records to Deputy Commissioner and the report is expected within a period of 20 days and as and when the report is furnished by the aforesaid Committee, it will be made available to the Commission and copy of the said report will also be endorsed to the information seeker.
