Early Times Report

Srinagar, Nov 1: The Muslim Wakf Board in an order issued last year relieved all its employees which had attained the age of 62 years but the Secretary of the board who is more than 80 years of age is still continuing in the board which raises a question mark on the functioning of the Wakf Board. The State Information Commission (SIC) has meanwhile intervened into this issue after the information about Secretary's qualification certificates was denied by the Wakf Board under RTI Act.
Details available with Early Times reveal that one Mehraj-u Din Kak a resident of Firdousabad, Batamaloo, Srinagar filed an appeal before State Information Commission (SIC) on 28.09.2015, wherein he submitted that he had filed an application under RTI Act addressed to PIO J&K Muslim Wakf Board, Srinagar on 29.06.2015 which was allegedly either incomplete or concocted and not based on facts.
The Commission perused the queries raised by the appellant. It is noted that in reply to query 1 & 2, the appellant has provided copy of order of Engagement of Shri G. M. Rather R/o Nowshehra Srinagar as Secretary of the said board. He has qualified this order by submitting that period of appointment has not been specified in his order dated 09.02.2009 referred to above. The response of the PIO , therefore, replies the query and the reasons asked by the appellant. As regards to reply to query 5, the appellant argued that as per order No. 708 of 2014 dated 01.11.2014 issued by the Secretary, J&K Muslim Wakf Board Srinagar, all employees who have attained the age of 62 years shall be relieved w,e,f 31st December, 2014. The appellant submitted that the Secretary of the Board is continuing even after attaining age of around 80 years and he wants his DOB Certificate to establish his allegation.
SIC's in its ruled, "The PIO has responded to this by stating that as reported by Mr. G M Rather, his DOB is 1935; however, his matriculation certificate and Service Book is reportedly not available. The PIO submitted the he has obtained written statement from Mr. G M Rather, Secretary J&K Muslim Wakf Board, Srinagar in this regard. Accordingly, an attested copy of the statement of Mr G M Rather be provided to the appellant within one week".
