Jammu, Nov 1: Jammu Municipal Corporation was pulled for shutting eyes on the running of gas agencies, illegally, in Jammu. Amazingly, J&K Government's own department I,e JAKFED is on forefront among the violators of gas agencies which has its own godown in residential area that too without Jammu Municipality's permission.
The glaring laxities on the part of the Government came to limelight when the lawyer Kovid Khosla, in public interest, filed RTI to JMC seeking details of the records of the building permission in favour of the gas agencies with in municipal limits.
However, ignoring the same, the Chief Enforcement Zone-1 and senior Town Planner, who happens to be the PIO failed to provide details, even the FAA's directions too go on deaf ear. Fumigated over the attitude of the PIO JMC, the State Information Commission, shot the show cause notice that why the penalty is not imposed to the JMC.
Earlier, shifting the blame on CAPD and office of the District Magistrate Jammu, the JMC said that warnings/notices and closure of such illegal godowns with in municipal limits is to be issued by CAPD and District t Magistrate Jammu as most of the godowns of these gas agencies were constructed prior to expansion of JMC's limits, but later the onus of the same was lied on JMC.
Pertinently, as per Petroleum and Natural Gas ministry's guidelines the godowns of the gas agencies must be out of the Municipal limits to thwart any eventuality. |
