Rajouri, Nov 1: Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri has stopped the salary of several teachers including a headmaster & a warden of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) hostel and other staff member following their unauthorized absence from duties and poor academic performance. After several complaints of unauthorized absence from duties by the teaching staff in remote areas in Rajouri district, Ch Altaf Hussain, CEO along with a team of HoDs from District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) visited various government schools and KGBV hotel on Saturday and took action against the erring teachers.
During the visit to KGBV at Doongi Brahmna ,CEO barring a peon and two cooks found all the staff members including Warden on unauthorized absent from duty at 4 pm.
While interacting with the students Ch Altaf Hussain ,CEO found their academic performance below average.
He on spot issued orders to the warden to shift the classes to hostel from nearby middle school and put more efforts to raise the academic standard of the students.
He directed the concerned ZEO to stop the salary of warden as well as teaching staff till he (CEO) was not satisfied with their performance in future.
After visiting government middle school at Doongi Ghai, Chief Education Officer found the academic level below average. Students of 8th class even can‘t solve simple equations of add and subtraction. Only 37 students were enrolled in this school out of which 16 were absent.
After interacting with the locals it was established that headmaster as well as staff members didn’t bother to contact the people and the Village Education Committee (VEC) members for sending the children to government schools.
Unhappy over the casual approach of the staff towards academic improvement, the CEO has stopped the salary of the staff till the duo performed satisfactorily.
Similar performance was witnessed by the CEO in middle school at Namblan where the students of 8th class can’t explain the difference between a line and a point besides solving simple adding sums. The salary of Mohd Bashir, headmaster and others including Mohd Ayaz and Mohd Afzal was stopped by the CEO “If these teachers failed to improve the academic standard within one month they will be declared as ‘deadwood’ and shall be recommended for premature retirement” said Ch Altaf Hussain ,CEO.
