Mir falls in lap of irrelevant leaders, ignores true representatives | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 1: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee seems to be heading towards one more split as the new JKPCC chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir, who started his innings with a bang by organizing series of programs and rallies, has fallen into the trap of "irrelevant leaders," who have no mass following. Initially Mir had tried to take every leader with him to dispel the notion that Congress is a divided house, but along with the passage of time cracks within the JKPCC have become wide and open as Mir has been surrounded by a few so-called leaders who have no mass following and have no base and unfortunately they are calling the shots. "Mir after taking some bold steps has fallen into the lap of some leaders who are responsible for the prevailing confusion in the party," insiders revealed. "JKPCC leaders, who enjoy mass following, are up in arms against Mir due to his style of functioning. These leaders have expressed their anguish over the way some disgruntled elements have been dominating the party affairs in Jammu and Kashmir." Some leaders, who were responsible for encouraging factionalism during the tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Prof Saifuddin Soz have also become active and these leaders are once again calling the shots, sources added. They said that some well-wishers of the party had suggested Ghulam Ahmed Mir to maintain a distance from such disgruntled elements but Mir did not pay any heed to their suggestions. Instead of paying heed towards their advices, the JKPCC Chief is giving more preference to such leaders. The mass base leaders in the Congress are feeling suffocated due to these leaders calling the shots and dominating the party affairs. These so-called leaders due to their proximity with all the JKPCC chiefs have always tried to demonize those leaders who have base in their respective areas. Most of these leaders belong to Jammu district and they always tried to snub leaders from rural areas. |
