JHCC demands creation of independent unit
11/2/2015 12:07:12 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 1 : Seeking creation of an independent unit as Jammu Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) by segregating it from its parent organization JKTDC on the same analogy as has been done in case of various other state departments for effective operations.
This was stated by Jammu Heritage Conservation Club (JHCC) today accusing successive regimes of being discriminatory and nurturing regional bias. Not a single officer from Jammu region has ever been posted as Managing Director (MD) of JKTDC since the corporation was formed over 35 years ago adding that three officers viz B.R Singh, Feroz Khan and Satish Nehru didn't belong to Jammu region. JHCC questioned the discriminatory attitude further pointing out that the present incumbent is holding dual charge as he is working as an administrative secretary and also holding additional charge of MD JKTDC lamenting as to why an officer from Jammu region cannot be posted to head the Corporation, the statement questioned. BJP leaders must muster guts and grits to question this monopoly by a particular section in forthcoming coordination committee meet and get justice done to the people of Jammu region, JHCC asked.
Urging Chief Minister, who is also holding the portfolio of Tourism Department to hold a thorough probe into brazen defiance of his statement issued on August 9 in Srinagar on preservation of heritage sites and the subsequent disfiguring and defacing of an historic building of Dak Bungalow by covering its outer walls with glazed aluminum sheets in Jammu Advising MLC's Ajat Shatru Singh and Vikramdatiya Singh, JHCC suggested them that the real tribute to Maharaja Hari Singh, instead of Bharat Ratna, would be to protect his contributions for the people of Jammu and the Dak Bungalow is one of them which he founded in early forties of previous century.
JHCC has also given a call for a general strike on next Monday on 9th Nov., in protest against hurting religious sentiments of the people of Jammu by the management of JKTDC and appealed all other likeminded people and organizations to support it.
