JAMMU, Nov 1 : The formidable side of Young Rovers defeated title holders, Sainik Colony to clinch the Senior Division League title of DFA (District Football Association) Jammu at GGM Science College ground, here today. In the deciding Super League round tie, the confident Young Rover's made it a 2-1 win in the stipulated time to emerge victorious. The result was on expected lines, the reason being superb performance of Young Rover's throughout the competition. Rahul Sharma and Arun were the scores from winning side, who struck in the 17th and 22nd minutes of the match respectively. From Sainik Colony, the lone goal came through Dharam Pal Singh in the 45th minute of the match through a penalty kick. Dharam Pal, who netted the ball, was also shown yellow card for his misconduct. Mukesh and Rahul of Young Rover's were also punished for their wrongdoing and shown yellow cards. Meanwhile, Avinash Kumar of winners Young Rover's was declared best scorer while best goal-keeper trophy went to Tushar Heer of Jammu United Club. Similarly, Gulshan Kumar was named upcoming player of the tournament. Today's super league tie was officiated by the technical penal comprising Suresh Kumar Gupta, Vijay Kumar, Moon Stephen and Rooney Yalop. In the decider and prize distribution function, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu-Kathua Range, Ashkoor Wani was chief guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes.
