Kathua, Nov 1: To commemorate the 31st death anniversary of first women Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, Congress activists under the leadership of District Congress Committee President Former MLC Subash Gupta organized function. On this occasion, most of the senior leaders as well the activists of the party shower their heartiest tributes by flowering before the picture of iron-lady Gandhi. While speaking on the occasion Subash Gupta said that all the people especially the youth of this country should take inspiration from the life history of Indira Gandhi. She was elected as first lady Prime Minister of India that too without any type of reservation. She sacrificed herself for the cause of the nation including her life. “She strengthened the secularism of this country by promoting equality & justice in governance of this country. Her contributions in the shape of bank nationalization, foreign policy, abolition of Privy Purse, strengthening green revolution, etc has led India on the path of progress and self-reliance India”, he added. Subash Gupta further said that Indira Gandhi always believed in the empowerment of women and youth. By supporting the struggle for Bangladesh, she gave a tough message to whole world including Pakistan that India had the power to lead the whole world and any type of interference would no more be tolerated by the India. Indira Gandhi’s famous slogan “Gareebi Hatao’ becames the the slogan of Congress party with time. Subash gupta while paying tributes said that she started many poverty eradication programmes in the country on large scale because she believed that by eradication of poverty the country could progress rapidly. “Her contribution for society in general and for development of the country India cannot be forgotten by generations to come”, he maintained. Senior leaders Municipal Council Ex-President Naresh Sharma, Rattan Chand Karotra, General Secretary DCC Nariender Khajuria, S P Chandel vice president Dcc, Pankaj Sharma, Kulbir Singh Secy pcc,Sardar khan (S P rtd), Gulzar Ahmed, Pawan Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Ravinder Pal Singh Nitu, , Pushpa Majotra, and so many other activists of congress party were paid tributes on the occasion.
