NC is reckless in berating Mufti for joining hands with Modi | | | If a secular party joins hands with a right wing political party does it amount to murder of secularism ?If Chief Minister, Mufti Mohd.Sayeed, and patron of the PDP had joined hands with the BJP for the purpose of ensuring all round development of Jammu and Kashmir state was it his political blunder ?Hitherto a large section of people, including some of the senior leaders of the PDP, believe that the decision of the Mufti to forge an alliance with the BJP was a blunder. And if the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, opens the strings of the central Government's purse for upgrading the development plan for the state the opposition leaders, particularly belonging to the National Conference and the Congress would not be reckless in berating the Mufti for having joined hands with the BJP. As long as money flows from the centre people in Kashmir would not bother which party is in power in the centre or which leader heads the central Government. It is so because right from the day of the state's accession with India Jammu and Kashmir has had to bank on 80 to 90 per cernt financial support from the centre. And former Chief Minister,Farooq Abdullah, has t alked sense when, years ago,he had stated that it will be suicidal for the state Government in Jammu and Kashmir in case it entered into confrontation with the central Government, irrespective of the fact which party or which parties were in power However, much water has flowed down the river Jehlum from 1996 and 2015.Senior National Conference leaders do not cherish the alliance between the PDP and the BJP.Not that these leaders have any soft corner for the PDP but in criticizing Mufti Sayeed for having joined hands with Modi is aimed at creating a wedge between the Mufti and Modi.It is aimed at causing further erosion in the vote bank of the PDP.With this purpose in mind National Conference (NC) General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar has said Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi was his personal voice and not the opinion of Muslim-majority Jammu Kashmir. Sagar has said Mufti had been singing eulogies of Modi for the past few days and giving an impression as if his opinion about the PM was the opinion of people of Jammu Kashmir. Heaping praise on Modi, Mufti had said that Modi was "all-inclusive" and "not at all intolerant" When the National Conference, led by Farooq Abdullah, had joined hands with the BJP led NDA Government it was, then, a holy alliance. No senior leader, including Ali Mohd.Sagar, had been critical of Omar Abdullah having joined in the council of ministers, headed by Atal Behari Vajpayee. Yes, there is a vast difference between the outlook, style of functioning between Vajpayee and Modi. But both have drawn power and support from the RSS which is treated as a dreaded creature by the National Conference. When a senior NC leader Saif-ud-Din Soz voted against the vote of confidence tabled by the BJP in the parliament which resulted in the fall of Vajpayee led Government Soz was expelled from the party. He was thrown out of the party not only on charge of violating the NC whip that had been issued to support Vajpayee but also against one vote of Soz that had cost Vajpayee his Government. And If Farooq Abdullah had joined hands with the BJP Government led by Vajpayee it was done to ensure adequate financial support for the state of Jammu and Kashmir. If that was not wrong why should the Mufti be blamed for singing praise for Modi ?Hope Sagar and others take note of it. Yes, there is no doubt that any leaders' view is not the view of the majority of people in the state. If Sagar praised Sonia Gandhi will his praise be the voice of majority of people of Jammu and Kashmir. No, certainly not. |
