PM's Srinagar rally @ Rs 20 Crore | | | Muhammad Mukaram Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Nov 6: The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have reportedly spent a whopping Rs 20 crore to woo people to participate in the much hyped rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here, sources told Early Times on Friday. They said, the BJP leaders want to prove a point to the party leadership that they have overcome the shock of not opening their account in the 2014 assembly elections in Kashmir. "The money is being pumped in to ensure the grand success of Modi's rally, first after the formation of PDP-BJP coalition. Defeated BJP candidates of last year's assembly elections have devised a strategy to lure people against Rs 1000 each participant to ensure a huge gathering at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium. This would ensure presence of around 30,000 to 40,000 people from various districts of the Valley," sources added. According to party insiders, a huge sum of money has been spent on publicity and to ensure that rally becomes a huge success. "Yes, we have been asked to make this event successful by the top leadership. We will ensure that rally is a success," a BJP leader told Early Times. BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav during his visit to the Valley held a series of meetings with Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the separatist turned mainstream politician Sajjad Lone, who is also cabinet minister in the coalition on BJP quota. On its part the BJP has even set up a control room in the city that is headed by party state president and parliament member Jugal Kishore. "We have given target to our top leaders and officer bearers to bring people in the rally. We have arranged 1200 vehicles to ferry our workers from across the Valley to the venue,'' BJP Media- In-charge, Kashmir, Altaf Thakur told Early Times. However, Thakur denied the allegations of spending 20 crore in order to bring the crowd in the rally, he said that BJP alone will be bringing more than 20,000 at the rally. "Our coalition partners, PDP and Peoples Conference will also bring good number of workers to the rally. This is going to be big success,'' said Thakur. Notably, a group of daily wagers working in different departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest, Fisheries, Labour and Animal Husbandry from Pulwama district revealed that Directors of the concerned departments had issued a circular forcing them to attend the Modi's rally and to assemble at Town Hall Pulwama at 6 on Friday evening. "After getting assembled there they will be taken to Srinagar to attend Modi's rally," the daily rated workers said adding that despite not wishing to attend the rally, they are being forced to do so. A top PDP Minister said the PDP will also make this event successful and grand. "On Sunday, chief minister had a detailed meeting with PDP legislators, ministers and party office bearers and strategy was discussed how to make the rally successful,'' he said, adding that in the rally PDP leaders are hopeful that the prime minister will speak on political and economic package. |
