Hari Om reiterates his stand on PDP-BJP coalition Govt, Writes to BJP president
11/7/2015 12:23:23 AM

Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma Ji, MP,
Namaskar!
I received the show cause notice on November 5 asking me to explain my position and conduct.
I will not disclose what transpired during the meetings of senior party leaders, Ministers and MLAs, which took place onMarch 16, 21, 23, 24 and 25, 2015, at the PWD Guest House, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. You know that I was very much present in all these meetings held to review the situation that developed in the wake of PDP-BJP Government formation on March 1, 2015. Suffice to say that all, baring a couple of exceptions, were critical of the "inadequate share" the BJP got in the Government and all powerful State Cabinet. The general view was that the BJP must come out of the Government forthwith and sit in the opposition.
I will also not reflect on the circumstances under which the party decided not to release the election manifesto for the 2014 Assembly elections in the State. It was prepared by me and approved by the election management committee and election campaign committee as well as by the party's core committee.
I am not disclosing what transpired during the party meetings and why the printed election manifesto was not released in the larger interest of the party, which I have been serving to the best of my ability and capacity since years now.
However, I must put on record that it was me who propagated the party's ideology and programmes to the extent that the party had rendered the Kashmir-based parties, including the NC and the PDP, and the Congress clueless. I worked tirelessly and with a single-minded devotion for the party when none in the State and the country had expected that the BJP will ever come into power in this difficult and communally sensitive, but strategically very vital, State. Everyone in the State and outside it knows what I contributed to the party as a party's humble worker.
As far as my stand on the coalition with the PDP is concerned, I had repeatedly said during those five meetings that "the PDP formed the Government with the BJP not to run it but to discredit the BJP and render it ineffective in Jammu region". My stand all along was that "the association of the BJP with pro-self-rule and separatist-friendly PDP will hurt the party in Jammu region and its discriminated against people, Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs included, and also damage the party at the national level". It has actually happened. I believe a vary majority of party cadres is entirely in accord with me. My view was based on what the people in Jammu thought about the alliance between the BJP and the PDP and the share Jammu got under the power-sharing formula.
The charge that I have been breaking the party discipline and not allowing the party to take its agenda forward in the Government is a strong charge. It's true that I wrote five letters to the party high command, but I took recourse to this methodology only in the best interest of the party. I believe our party is a truly democratic party which encourages genuine dissent and well-meaning persons in the party. I also believe I have only served the party's interests by writing letters to the high command and issuing statements on the burning issues in Jammu and Kashmir.
I have no doubt whatever that you would appreciate my contribution, stand and approach.
I once again reassure you that I will continue to serve the party to the best of my ability and capacity.
With regards,
Sincerely Yours'
Prof Hari Om
