Rajouri, Nov 6: Illegal mushrooming of diagnostic centres including few reportedly operated by some unqualified persons in Rajouri town especially in the vicinity of district hospital has created many problems for the patients. Health authorities warned of action if such centre owners fail to complete formalities as sought by the health department. According to reports these illegally functioning clinic laboratories and diagnostic centres under the nose of district administration/ health authorities in Rajouri district are posing a risk to the lives of the people. Local alleged that many a time some patients are provided some 'erroneous reports', i.e. showing signs of serious diseases resulting in mental agony to the patients and their family members. Pertinently the court has clearly issued the orders to seal the premises if such units are not registered and granted valid license under the J&K Nursing Homes & Clinical Establishment (Registration & Licensing) Act 1063. It needs to mention here that a youth from Thanamandi area admitted in the District Hospital was asked by a doctor of the hospital to get the required tests performed in a selective local private Laboratory and the result provided to him proved very disturbing, the family got worried and shifted the youth to Jammu. According to family members a reputed laboratory at Jammu and clinical results from Govt medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu laboratory confirmed just a 'fever.' Thereafter irked over the erroneous diagnostic report causing extra financial burden and mental agony the family lodged the FIR against said diagnostic centre at Rajouri Police Station. On the complaint of brother of the youth, who is lawyer, CMO Rajouri during investigation found that the centre in question was also not registered with Directorate of Health Services (DHS) Jammu. Accordingly, that lab was sealed and Health authorities requested the Police to take action against such centres. "During investigation CMO found that 35 clinical laboratories / diagnostic centre in Rajouri district were functioning out of which 16 were functioning illegally and since then the department reportedly has failed to take any action and these centre still functioning, sources in health department added. When contacted Dr Bhasin Chief medical Officer (CMO) Rajouri informed 'Early Times' that recently an advisory has been issued to the concerned and all owners of these centres have been asked to get requisite permission from the Health Authorities after completing all the legal formalities. "Today during surprise visit the owners of 6 diagnostic centre have been directed to close their centre till they get permission for running their centre from concerned authorities. "They have been warned of legal action if they failed to complete the formalities, CMO Rajouri added. He also added that his office recently has received many complaints in regard to some illegal clinical/diagnostic clinic functioning and they have been asked to complete the formalities at earliest and to appoint technically trained staff. |
