Pompous Sports Officer attached for abusing Minister | | | Shiv Thakur Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 6: Infamous for his arrogance and conceit, Sports officer of the State Sports Council was today attached to the office of the Secretary allegedly for abusing a Cabinet Minister. According to the sources in the Sports Council, Rajan Sharma, sports officer Jammu abused a senior Cabinet Minister after he entered into an altercation with the organizers of All India T-20 cricket tournament being organized at MA Stadium. "Sports officer had been creating hurdles in the smooth conduct of the tournament and when his unwarranted acts were objected to, he entered into a verbal brawl and went on to abuse the minister who was chief guest at the inauguration of the tournament being organized by youth from Bhalessa, the native village of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad" disclosed a source in the Council. The matter was brought to the notice of the Minister who called up Sports Minister and CM secretariat and demanded immediate action against the erring sports officer who is known to have loose tongue. "Directions were issued by the Office of the Sports Minister at the behest of CM secretariat following which the SO was attached" informed an official of the Sports Council. Interestingly, on being contacted, Rajan Sharma confessed that he had abused the Minister. Secretary Sports Council, Javed Shah and Administrative officer Balbir Singh confirmed that the SO was attached, but refused to divulge the details. "Such decisions are taken in the interest of the administration and there are no specific reasons for them" said the administrative officer. It is pertinent to mention that this is not the first time that Rajan Sharma has been reprimanded for his erratic behaviour. Sources disclose that he was suspended for using unparliamentarily language against a lady subordinate and a lady KAS officer had once filed written complaint against him for his unwarranted behaviour.
