Sonwar school haven for relatives of babus, politicians
Transfer policy mutilated
11/7/2015 12:24:09 AM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Nov 6: The transfer policy in Education Department seems to have been mutilated by the authorities as the relatives of many so-called VIPs find Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sonwar in Srinagar a haven.
Majority of the female lecturers posted in this school have not been transferred from last five to eight years. The reason is obvious: political influence used by these lecturers.
Rafiya Wani, who is Urdu lecturer, was posted in the Sonwar school on 28.7.2008. But in spite of having completed seven year stay in the school, authorities haven't transferred her.
Similarly, Zoology lecturer Parveen Khan was posted in this institute on 5.2.2009 and she still continues to be posted there. Other lecturers who have completed their tenure in the school include Anita Khan, lecturer Political Science, who was posted here on 24.6.2010; Natasha Samin, lecturer Chemistry, was posted in the school on 4.7.2008; Hina Farooqui, lecturer English, was posted on 19.5.2008; and Ajaz Ahmad Hafiz, lecturer Information Technology, was posted in the school on 20.8.2010. Sources said Hafiz is also doing clerical work in the school and he does all financial dealings.
In addition to lecturers, many teachers and masters in Sonwar school have also completed their stay. There are some teachers/masters who are posted in the institute from last 10 to 19 years. Yasmin Ali, daughter of National Conference's senior leader Ali Mohammad Sagar is one among them. Early Times did a detailed story on Yasmin Ali in its Friday edition.
"We appeal Director School Education Dr Shah Faesal to identify all those lecturers and teachers who have completed at least four year stay in a particular institute and the same should be transferred immediately. If he won't do it, it will tarnish his image as he is being seen as a new hope in the Education Department " said Fayaz Ahmad, a school teacher from Pulwama.
Meanwhile, sources said Government Higher/High Schools located at Balhama, Batwara, Pantachowk, Harwan, Shalimar, Zadibal, Rawalpora, Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Kothibagh in district Srinagar are other schools where many influential teachers and lecturers continue to be posted from last 5 to 10 years.
